Hello everyone! I hope you are having a wonderful weekend. I’d like to let you know that I could not write a new blog post last week because I am still recovering from allergies. You know, it’s that time of the year when everyone gets sick.

I didn’t have the time to write something meaningful for all of you because I did not feel well at all. I did not take any medication to relieve pain or congestion at the beginning because I wanted to get healthy on my own. However, I got to the point that I didn’t know if what I had was actually an infection, a cold, or just allergies. This is because I didn’t sleep for almost 4 nights, so I decided to make an appointment with a doctor. I just wanted to know if there was something going on in my body like a bacteria or a virus so I could be taking the right medications.

I was 100% sure that what I had was allergies. The next morning I went to see the doctor. He just saw me for five minutes and the nurse didn’t even take my body temperature. Therefore, I don’t even know how but the doctor came to the conclusion that what I had was an infection. He gave me a prescription for antibiotics. Obviously, I didn’t take the antibiotics just because the doctor told me to do so. I requested if he could perform a streptococcus test (this test is to see if there are bacteria in one’s throat) Unfortunately, he told me that it was not necessary because he knew it was an infection. That same evening, I went to the urgent care because I was having a fever. The doctor at the urgent care performed the streptococcus test and it came back negative. She told me what I might had was maybe a virus or just allergies and that in both cases there is no medication to be prescribed. So, at the end, it just healed (80%) by itself, just by drinking lime tea with sugar at night. I still sneeze and cough, but it is not even compared to what I had from the beginning. I wanted to share with you this experience because sometimes we just do/take what doctors prescribe to us without hesitating their decision. I am one of those people that always want to have proof about anything. That’s why I reconsidered taking the antibiotics at the beginning. I think that taking antibiotics is in no way good if you don’t need them in the first place.

I hope to keep recovering in the next weeks just with my home remedies. I hope you’d enjoyed this short story of my life. Don’t forget to check out my Instagram @merlotandchat to see the most recent pictures. Please remember to be humble wherever you go and to pursue a healthy lifestyle!
