Butler County Ohio: A Family Adventure Destination

Butler County Ohio: A Family Adventure Destination

Butler County, Ohio has it all. The county is located in the southwestern region of the state.  It is the perfect place to live or to visit. The county has many food venues, restaurants, hotels, resorts, entertainment, recreational parks, breweries, wineries, and more to offer. Hamilton is the state county seat and it has a well-preserved, clean, and organized downtown and business district. Other major cities in Butler County are Middletown, Oxford, Liberty Township, and West Chester. I spent a weekend getaway in late September with my infant baby, husband, and mom. The weather was spectacular with a sunny morning and clear skies at night. This adventure was fun and relaxing. Since Butler County has lots to offer as a tourist destination I will share my experience with you in two blog posts. In the first blog post, I will share the information that is primarily family-friendly and the second blog (in November) I will share my adult nightlife experience. So, without further ado, let’s get started!

For three days and two nights, I stayed in a suite with my family at the Staybridge Suites Cincinnati North. This hotel is conveniently located near I-75 in West Chester. Everybody favorite is Butler County Donut Trail, which is twelve unique locally-owned donut stores. I visited three of these stores, viz., Holtman’s Donuts, The Donut House, and Jupiter Coffee & Donuts. I, certainly, recommend you get some donuts from either of these stores.  It is a good way to start your morning weekend with a delicious sweet. Then, you could enjoy a nice walk at the Rentschler Forest MetroPark. There is a paved bike path for cycling, running, or jogging. If you are into kayaking one can also kayak at this park. Another alternative is to visit Jungle Jim’s International Market, which has all sort of domestic and foreign foods and beverages. There is a large collection of wines, a bar, serving draft beers, and the largest cheese in the World. This grocery store is like no other one and even you don’t like grocery shopping this is a must-see. For lunch, there are many good restaurants. The ones I dined and enjoyed were the Sawasdee Thai Cuisine and Hamilton’s High Street Café. In the former restaurant, I enjoyed a fried rice dish with a side of grilled tofu. In the latter, you will find that there is a large selection of sandwiches and delicious French toasts. If you have young children, you should visit Niederman Family Farm. The farm has many attractions such a giant corn maze, pig races, small houses for children to play, huge jumping cloud, among other attractions. There is plenty of food and desserts for you to purchase at Niederman Family Farm. If you are into arts and crafts, perhaps, you should visit Miami University Art Museum or the Pyramid Hill Sculpture Park. At Miami University at Oxford, there are a few galleries including color photography, black-and-white drawings, paintings, and sculpture. When I visited the Pyramid Hill Sculpture Park, they were hosting an Art Fair where one could purchase local crafts and enjoy food and music. I’m pretty sure the Pyramid Hill Sculpture Park will have other amazing events throughout the year. Therefore, when you have the chance to visit it, you can rent a golf car and tour around the sculptures in the park. For dinner, you and your family could enjoy Vietnamese cuisine at Dai Trang Bistro. This is a quiet and authentic family-owned restaurant is located in West Chester. Lastly, you and your children must go visit The Cone where you can pose and take cool pictures while enjoying delicious ice cream. All of these were wonderful experiences, which I’d like you to consider in your next visit to Butler County, OH. Stay tuned because in the next blog I will share my wonderful experience at Flip Side (in Liberty Township), Rivertown Brewery & Barrel House (in Monroe), and Hanover Winery (in Hamilton).
