Panama in Five Nights!

August 10, 2017

< back to blog home

I traveled to Panama in June this year and it was so much fun. I have been there a couple of times before when I was a teen. So, it was kind of funny to come back as an adult. This is because I could enjoy going to parties, drinking, eating and of course just having an awesome time overall. Being in Latin America is such a wonderful experience because I love tropical weather. Panama is perfect because you can find several stores and restaurants from the U.S.A, but I always like to shop and eat locally. Even though I stayed for only 5 nights, I guess I almost completed my bucket list. Therefore, if you would like to plan a trip to Panama you should keep reading this post.

Once you arrived at the International Tocumen Airport, you will see a kiosk where you can buy a cell phone Sim card so you can have minutes and data (Internet) during your stay in Panama. This was totally worth it! I highly recommend you to buy it because it came so helpful when using Uber.

I stayed at Hard Rock Hotel Megapolis Panama. This was one of the most accurate decisions I could make because I had everything near and a spectacular nightlife within the hotel. I really did not have to go somewhere else if I wanted to party all night long. If you can make a reservation with breakfast included just do it because the breakfast (buffet style) is just FABOULOUS! However, I do not recommend this hotel for couples with kids because it can get loud with crazy sounds.

The places I visited in Panama were the most popular that tourists go. I went to the Panama Canal, Casco Viejo, three different malls (Albrook, AltaPlaza, and Multicentro) and of course, I went to Panama City. One of the fun things to do in Albrook mall is that you go to all the different animal entries. Below are some pictures. So, if you are planning to go to a certain restaurant, then you just got to the panda exit, and so on. I just wanted to revisit all these entries because I used to do it as a teen (which it takes a long time to walk around), but it was funny because I could see all the stores and restaurants. The Panama Canal was exactly what I was expecting; I had been there before. However, the museum tour was something new I did not experience before. It was very detail oriented and explained the whole picture of the Panama Canal construction. Casco Viejo was cute and relaxing. I felt like it was the heart of the local and cultural history of Panama City. I loved the food and the ambiance. You can buy there some local handicrafts goods. Locals are so welcoming and helpful.

I can’t wait to visit Panama again. I will definitely visit same the same places. However, I think that for next time I’ll choose to stay at another hotel. I don’t like to stay in the same places every time I have the chance to travel. Let me know if you’d like to go to Panama and what are you planning to do during your stay.
